The short answer

Choose the session for your ability and the conditions—not simply because a spot is famous.

Start with the experience you want

Anza is Momma Surfs’ home base in Agadir. If you want your trip to combine time in the water with a neighbourhood atmosphere, it is a place to consider. Our surf school, accommodation and Espressurf café connect the different parts of a surf holiday without making every day follow the same schedule.

Before choosing dates or a package, decide what success looks like for you. A first-time surfer may want to become comfortable handling a board and catching broken waves. A returning surfer may want help with positioning, timing or turning. Those are different sessions, even when they happen on the same stretch of coast.

Is Anza suitable for beginners?

A place name alone cannot tell you whether the water is suitable. Anza can offer powerful surf; a beginner session depends on the specific area, swell, tide and supervision on that day. Tell your coach about your swimming confidence, previous lessons and anything that makes you nervous.

For a first lesson, ask where you will practise, how the coach will supervise the group and what the exit plan is. Start with a coached introduction rather than copying experienced surfers paddling out. A lesson may focus on the beach and white water before progressing to unbroken waves.

Anza, Taghazout and the wider coast

The Agadir–Taghazout region gives surf travellers several possible bases. Consider the daily experience as well as the waves: where you sleep, how you get to a session and whether you prefer a locally rooted neighbourhood or a surf-trip itinerary with more moving parts.

Do not assume a booking includes visits to every famous break. If Taghazout is on your wish list, ask which outings are available, what they cost and whether they suit your level. A named spot is not a promise of suitable conditions during your stay.

Plan the practical details before you arrive

Send your dates, group size and surf experience when enquiring. Ask what your quote includes: accommodation, coaching sessions, board and wetsuit, transport and meals should each be clear. Let us know if you are travelling with people who do not surf.

Keep some flexibility in your schedule. You can use time outside the water to practise movements, rest, explore Anza or meet people over coffee. A useful surf trip is not measured only by how many hours you spend paddling.

Respect the beach and the people using it

Observe the lineup before entering, leave space between boards and follow the coach’s instructions about where to paddle and practise. Share the beach respectfully with swimmers, other learners and local surfers. Take your litter away and ask before photographing people closely.

Check current conditions locally each day. This guide is for planning; it is not a live surf report or a guarantee that a particular part of the beach is safe.
